OWP/P is an
international design firm with our home office in Chicago. We
are presently one of the largest architectural practices in the
City of Chicago with over 300 architects and engineers. The firm
has been an active member of the U.S Green Building Council since
1999 and is currently one of the USGBC LEED Certification Review
Teams.Members of our Environmental Advocates are active participants
in the creation of the LEED Core and Shell Rating system, the
Green Homes for Chicago Program, The Illinois Healthy Schools
Campaign, The O’Hare Modernization Program Sustainable Design
Guidelines, and many other professional initiatives. One of our
key areas of focus has always been internal initiatives to green
our office and our projects. We currently have five complete LEED
certified projects with another 30 projects in design throughout
all of our markets.
Each year, OWP/P invites selected speakers to
participate in Environmental Awareness Week, which contributes immensely
to the professional development of our community and our staff as
well as providing a high level of service to the profession. We
invite our clients to attend and learn as well (such as the City
of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, New Jersey Institute
of Technology, Cleveland Green Building Coalition, Walgreens, Exelon
Corporation and Takeda, just to name a few). We also sponsor
evening lecture sessions for the general design community through
partnering with universities and professional organizations. In
the past, we have co-sponsored sessions with the USGBC Chicago Chapter
and the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Architecture. |
To
give an idea of the event, the days typically begin with short
presentations by vendors on sustainable products, followed by
a lunchtime presentation or panel discussion concluding with Q/A
session. Evening events also occur throughout the week with happenings
such as a movie night and joint sessions or lectures with other
organizations, such as the USGBC Chicago Chapter. Some notable
